Nail Polish Organisation

mailvarnish nailoragnsing nailsstorage nailz

Nail Varnish is one of my biggest obsessions and even though I try to avoid buying more sometimes they are so easy to pop into your basket when nipping into Boots for something or even the Supermarket. After a big clear out of the gloopy nail varnishes and the multiples as well as the shades I just never wear here we are. The wonderful A Thrifty Mrs posted about how she organised nail varnish with little stickers on top and I haven't looked back.

I ordered these circle stickers from Amazon which were perfect and painted each colour onto them. I found this wonderful box in Ikea, unfortunately can't find it on the website but it is very new and was only a few pounds. Perfect for my little collection of polishes along with nail files, top coats and other manicure bits and pieces!

I would love to have my nail varnish on display on little shelves but living in a small cottage with a man means I can't completely take over. This is compact enough to pop on top of my chest of drawers and is a lovely hot pink.

Models Own Neon Nails

Models Own - Bubblegum, Luis Lemon, Beach Party, Pink Punch & Pukka Purple

modelsowniceneon

I love neon nails and Models Own have the best collection. Their new ice neon collection is amazing, however some of the colours are just repackaged (Luis Lemon and Bubblegum!). They all dry matte so need a good top coat for that glossy look. I couldn't resist taking these photos in the snow when I spent 4 days cooped up inside my own house due to huge 6 foot snow drifts, cabin fever well and truly set in. Apparently keeping your nail varnish in the fridge keeps it in tip top condition but think that would be a bit extreme.

Pukka Purple isn't as bright as the others, but is a really unique wonderful colour. The rest are in your face neons, my favourite for a night out is Hed Kandi Beach Party, it glows under UV light!

I am all for neons in Summer and am firmly on the side of neons instead of pastels. I always have a neon on my toes as it cheers me up at the end of long day on my feet, I know I know. But then when you start to think shoes like this are beautiful you need something to perk you up. (If you work on your feet, hospital / supermarket retail etc, get some Hotter shoes. They are so so comfy)

So love neons? Buy one from Models Own :)

Sinful Pink Nail Varnish

sinful colors sinful colors sinful colors

I have a huge problem when it comes to nail varnish, I own far too many bottles. I might need that bright lime green occasionally you know? Most of my nail varnishes are Models Own, I find their formula really good and fast drying, a wide range of colours and £5 a bottle is perfect. Then I saw Sinful Colors in a stand in my small Boots while at home for Easter. £1.99 each and so many different colours. There are 70 shades according to the website.

Pink nails for me are the ultimate, I am always looking for the brightest barbie-esque pink. I think I have found it! As well as bright pink nails, nude is always a second favourite. Perfect for a glitter top coat or leopard print nail art.

24/7 This is my new favourite nail varnish, I've tried to capture how bright the neon pink is but I always find neons really hard to photograph. It is fully opaque in two coats and dries matte as most neons do. Perfect with a glossy top coat! The formula is comparable with Models Own for £3.01 less! I always find neons last longer on nails, but used Seche Vite over the top which you all know can be a bit hit and miss when it comes to peeling off.

Easy Going This is a milky nude colour, I was hoping it would be bit more pinky on the nail but love it nonetheless  Similar formula to 24/7 but dries shiny. I found it to be opaque in two coats on natural nails and one on falsies. Perfect base colour, much like Models Own Utopia just less grey.

Pinky Glitter When I first tried this I was expecting it to be a pink glitter top coat, it is instead quite thick almost like jelly?! It can be quite hard to work with, I tried to do glitter tips but found it a bit thick. It is perfect on the whole nail. Two coats and it is opaque! Apart from the tricky formula I love it!

To conclude, 24/7 is my ultimate pink. I am starting a 12 week placement this week so won't be able to wear it on my fingernails but shall be doing a full on pedicure tonight and bright pink nails will be featuring. These are amazing for £1.99 (they are currently on 3 for 2 in Boots). The Boots in my home town had a fully stocked stand a week ago but today in Huddersfield the stand was a bit bare! So get in there quick, but sure they will be restocked soon.

False Nail Love

Boots False Nails Boots False Nails Boots False Nails
Boots Perfect Finish Clear Nails - £8.50

False nails are nothing new, I've been wearing them on and off for a few years. I love that you can paint some awesome nail art on the Thursday night watching tv and have them ready to wear our Saturday night. I have also always had short nails, no amount of diet / supplements / nail care has ever helped them grow so I love that false nails give me long nails asap. I have had acrylics and gels before but prefer glue on as they are much more instant. I spend a lot of time in hospitals and practicals so nails or nail varnish is a big no no.

I have tried many types, the cheap ones you can get from eBay are awesome except I find them too thin and too long for my small natural nails. This set from Boots is a winner, 200 nails in 10 sizes, that includes extras of the most common sizes (6, 6.5 and 5). I find a set usually lasts me a week, my last set I cleaned out a fire, oven and collected wood and they didn't budge. This may also be down to the glue, my personal choice is Nailene Ultra Quick Nail Glue

Revlon Girly Nail Enamel

REVLONGIRLY

I couldn't resist buying this nail varnish, need to remember that I cannot fuel my car with nail varnish. I was going to spend my last week with false nails on before placement with bright neon pink. This is a bit more subtle; a lovely pink with blue, pink and purple bits of glitter, similar to the formula of Revlon's Scandalous / Facets of Fushia. I have only tried it on false nails which usually don't need as many coats as natural nails, took two or three coats to be completely opaque however that could be fixed by using a light pink as a base.

I love it! Perfect for Spring, when it stops snowing. I also want to try it with gradient tips on light pink nails. I bought this in Boots within the 3 for 2 offer, the swatch on the website doesn't show the glitter or how pretty it is. I love the formula of Revlon's nail colours, and this is no different. (Well all except a nude I have from them which takes around 12342 coats to be opaque)

Quick Nail Post

Glitter = Juicy Jules Models Own, Pink = Stawberry Fizz Rimmel, Blue = Feeling Blue Models Own

Painted these nails over Christmas but forgot about them until I found them in an empty purse before going out on saturday. I probably thought it was a wise place to store them when packing. My body clock is currently a little confused, working 6am-2pm then a 2pm-10pm it doesn't know when to sleep. The photo was taken while out so the colours are a little washed out!

Currently a little obsessed with Pinterest - my username is ZoeyCatrin and you can find me here!

Hello Glitter Nails

I am obsessed with glittery nails, perfect for a NYE Party. I love glitter nail varnishes but can never be arsed with the 5 coats they take. Instead prefer using loose glitter. One coat of clear nail varnish and then dipped into a pot of glitter topped with Seche Vite. Though my flat and boyfriend are covered in glitter.

Hope everyone has a lovely New Years Eve, it will wonderful not working it. Bring on 2012

Galaxy Nails

I am currently stuck in bed with the worst cough in the world, fortunatly it is my day off but dreading having to go to work tomorrow. Working in a call centre with a horrific cough is awful, poor customers are put on mute constantly so I can cough. But nails! I have always wanted to attempt galaxy nails, so when I was home alone saturday night with just X Factor and some wine squash I had a go. They are reasonably easy to do, used a corner of a sponge from the kitchen to sponge on the different colours.

Now must go watch some awful television, oh and tidy the flat like I promised.

Leopard Print Tips

£1 Primark Nails / Amazing Ring from Forever c/o giveaway on Friday is Forever / Models Own Gold Rush and Wah Nail Art Pen to paint on Leopard Tips!

Not having to open bottles, carry boxes or push huge cages of alcohol mean I can have false nails on.. all the time. Keep meaning to go to the Arndale and have proper Acrylics but no money, hence the £1 Primark nail. The are however very flimsy, I snapped one off just adjusting the volume on my laptop.

But, the gold leopard tips are gloriously tacky.. Perfect.

Nails Nails Nails!

1. Models Own Sophie's Pink and Nail Art Pen
2. Collection of Halloween nails, I took these while drunk and most of them fell of during the night as I also applied them drunk hence no good photographs! But they were fun for the night.
3. Leopard Nails! Following the steps from my tutorial on Scarlet Pout!
4. Models Own Misty Grey with Miss Sporty Sparkle Touch over the top.
5. Rimmel's Disco Ball is identical to the Miss Sporty one but Miss Sporty's version is  £1 cheaper. I have bought a few Miss Sporty nail varnishes now and am very impressed. The black in the Halloween nails is Miss Sporty, two coats and it was perfectly opaque!

We now have internet in the flat! Still searching for my camera battery but looks like I will just have to buy a new one!

Yes Instagram and the like are over but I have a brand new phone (Samsung Galaxy, it is amazing and my new baby.) so having fun playing with new apps!

1. Boyfriends CDs have taken over the flat, living in the kitchen until we can afford a CD Rack! 2. Spending the evening alone equals creating wonderful Halloween nails. 3. Our view is the whole of Manchester, with an industrial estate / Manchester Fort Retail Park inbetween. 4. New phone equals new case and I got this hipster number from ebay

- So I officially now live in Manchester! Moved into our flat a week ago and love it. I have 5 weeks of training at work which is okay but so much to learn. I will soon be an expert on insurance! A world away from being a retail supervisor / bar supervisor I tell you! Making raspberry lynchburgs was much easier! The flat is perfect for the two of us. We have two bedrooms but the spare bedroom has no bed and has actually turned into my walk in wardrobe. Clothes and shoes every where. When I get paid I will tackle that room but not for now!
- We will have internet in a week, so hopefully some blogging will occur then! I am almost at 150 followers which is huge in my world! Ha.

LEOPARD!

I love leopard print, addicted to it utterly and completely. So love when it comes around in trends so it is everywhere in shops!

Topshop "Swagger" Heels / Next Platform Wedges / Next Animal Print Jacket / Red Herring Faux Fur Collar Coat
Went shopping for work / smart clothes last week and just fell in love with so many things. The Topshop Heels are just my favourite shoe, animal print, high and a platform. Will be searching the high street for a more affordable version. I love New Look heels as they fit so well!

Amii asked for some wonderful guest bloggers to blog about things we love in Autumn, of course I picked Leopard Print and did a mini nail art tutorial with wonderful matching eye make-up to match. So pop over to Scarlet Pout. (I am scheduling this post and so is Amii so this could go terribly wrong!) see.

- I'm moving out of Halls in 3 days, just as all the new freshers turn up. Walking away from two jobs I love and going to start a new life in Manchester. Moving back in with my boyfriend will hopefully mean eating better, however nothing beats eating macaroni cheese after drinking a 100 too many gins. Sleeping on a bed outside the porters, lying on the floor outside takeaways. Anyone reading this who has just started University I say have the most fun you can have, work hard and play hard.
- Currently addicted to Graze boxes. Oh I'm so late too the party but they are awesome
- Also in love with Max Factor's Xperience Foundation in Light Ivory. It matches my pale skin, gives good coverage and makes my skin look perfect!

Ps Also have done a little guest post featuring ELF over on Claire's blog, French For Cupcake :)

- Primark cardigan

- George at Asda dress, stamp from last night
- Fake pink nails worn around 3 times now.

A proper post will hopefully go up soon, relying on a dongle for internet and a blackberry for a camera will soon be over. Thursday night a nice meal turned into a drunken mess, tried to climb up a slide and have now twisted my knee so today shall be spent in bed moaning.

Boots 17 Crackle Top Coat Review

Yes, I know crackle top coats are so over. But then again I'm sure I read ombre hair and nail art are both completely over yet still loved by many. I needed some new powder and as there is a 3 for 2 on Boots on all make-up I decided to give the 17 Crackle Top Coat a revisit. I bought the "gold" top coat back in April and wasn't the biggest fan. It doesn't crackle that well compared to both Barry M and Models Own. A coat slightly too thin leaves a streaky finish but too thick and it leaves the nail almost completely covered. Even using heat, i.e. blowing on your nails, doesn't seem to help.

They have added two new shades, a purple and this black with gold specks of glitter in. I thought it would be fun over a gold base. Which it is, just it doesn't show as much as the base colour as Models Own Smash up does. However the newer black and gold variety does work better than the older gold one. Maybe I just had a dud bottle?!

But yes, a bit of fun. Only £3.99 a bottle and included in the Boots 3 for 2. The pink base colour is also from 17, Lasting Fix Nail Polish in Pink Grapefruit which goes on wonderfully and dries nice and quickly!

Bloo Boo

Primark Bag / New Look Skirt / Monster Addiction / Models Own BlooBoo and Feeling Blue

- So second attempt at posting this blog, the image host went mad and didn't upload the photos correctly but showed them up on my laptop fine. Oh technology. The bag and skirt were slight impulse purchases when I had a few hours to kill in Manchester the other week. The bag I love, it is massive and add some much needed colour to my mostly black wardrobe. The skirt I love in principle, I can see it being worn with a black body scoop neck top and massive stripper-esque heels on a night out. Except I barely go out, when I do it's all about flat shoes and simple dresses.

- The nails started out as a copy of Charlene's amazing nails. (Seriously, I am addicted to her amazing nail art and think everyone should take a look at Dainty Nails so they can have some of their own!) but my Model's Own Nail Art Pen died, well is leaking everywhere so was hard to control. Only bought it a few weeks ago so a complaint email might be written. I never complain about anything, I am just too nice.

- When flat / job / life sorted I will be buying a proper camera. My mother has just bought herself a DLSR so am going to have a play with it when I go home for a few weeks. Though very much out of my budget! After my photo host problems I uploaded these to blogger and even though my blackberry photos are not great to start with, now they look even worse. Bah!

PS Think everyone should go visit Rare Candies, my lovely friend Hollie's blog. She is a beauty. That is all
