A Very Merry Cocktail

I know, I know. Christmas is over. Done. Christmas trees thrown out (hope you recycled it!) Too many people are going Dry January (go you!) and asking for sponsorship (boo, just donate the money you'll save not drinking to charity and shut up).

But anyway. We have a slightly different Christmas, my parents usually work as I will when I qualify. A family of medical professionals means at least one family member will be working. This year it was my dad, so while he was off driving an ambulance around we visited family members, walked the dogs and then proceeded to make cocktails all day. Only one cocktail is photographed as we then drank too many cocktails. Thanks to my sister mixing up cups and mls (really, 25ml and 1 cup? not the same) some were far too strong.

Our favourites however were our versions of a Raspberry Daiquiri and a Mai Tai, all made in a boston shaker but i'm sure could be just mixed together in a pitcher.

Raspberry Daiquiri (serves 2!)
Muddle a big handful of raspberries a cocktail shaker until smooth. Add 100ml / 4 shots of white rum, juice of half a lime, 25ml of sugar syrup, add lots of ice and shake until the outside of the cocktail shaker is completely cold and covered in condensation. Double strain  into martini glasses. Garnish with a piece of lime and rasberries!

Mai Tai (not really, we didn't have almond syrup and just kept adding more juice)
In a cocktail shaker add 50ml white rum, 50ml dark rum, 25ml of triple sec over ice. Add juice of half a lime and 85ml of both orange juice and pineapple juice. Shake and serve over ice in a tall glass

Back to reality now of 5.30am starts, though am excited to put together our own little bar. Just ordered myself a cocktail shaker. Hope my boyfriend enjoys a school night cocktail.

What's in my drunk bag?

drunkinmybag  drunkinmybag4 drunkinmybag2

When I get in from a night out I tend to tip my bag upside down looking for a hair elastic or my house key. Every time. This is obviously a staged one but full of my night out essentials.

MAC Candy Yum Yum - This is my go to lipstick at the minute for night time. It is a bright neon pink with a matte finish. There are plenty of reviews if you do a quick google but it's not easy to wear, as with any matte any dry patches will show up but other than that it instantly finishes my face off.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Powder 52 and Little Round Pot Blusher 54 - This is my favourite powder ever, lovely and smooth making my skin look lovely and matte. I like a highlighter on my cheeks but nose and chin need to be matte! The Little Round Pot Blushers are iconic, this is a really easy shade to wear and perfect for topping up. I tend to not carry anything brighter in my bag as I have a tendency to over blush after a few too many jaegerbombs.

Collection 2000 Supersize Falsh Lash Mascara - This was £2.99 in Boots, I was not expecting anything but it gives lovely perfect day time lashes. I tend to wear false lashes on a night out so this is perfect for touching up. It also doesn't matter if I lose it! Of course my trusty eye lash glue has to come out too.

The Models Own brush is from a set, it is the perfect size for blush but also just big enough to powder my nose. What's the point in taking two brushes out! You always need a black khol liner and Rimmel's is one of the best. Pefect to fix any cat eye problems. The bag is from Topshop many many years ago, it's quite small but makes a nice addition to a black dress. The shoes are from Dorothy Perkins and actually destroy my feet but I am intent on trying to wear them in!

My bag is obviously missing the random bar mats, shot glasses and proof I used my card to pay for a round of shots at 3.40am.

(Yes, a blogger cliche post but I've already done a What's In My Bag with a difference

Got a water bottle of whiskey in my handbag

Lot's of people are finishing exams this time of year and all of those that are 18 will be enjoying a drink or 25. Bring on the 14th June, I do finish earlier but work is in the way of me celebrating! So here are a few of my favourite pitchers / pre drinks.

Jack Apple Discovered in a fish bowl competition in work, is based on a cocktail but makes a good pitcher to share.
2 shots Apple Sourz, 2 shots of JD, top with lemonade and lots of ice in a nice big pitcher.

Lambrini Punch This is the ultimate pre-drinking jug and also makes you look amazing chavvy if you appear at a house party with this concoction, especially Happy Shopper Cherryade.
A bottle of lambrini, some vodka (depends how drunk you want to be) and topped with cherryade.

Skittles Vodka The first time I made skittles vodka it just turned out to be a brown mess, it did taste nice though. I have since learnt to separate out the colours so you end up with a selection of vodkas in different colours. Obviously sieve before drinking as the colourless skittles left in the bottom might cause you to be sick when drunk. 'Errr there is a lump in my vodka'
Separate the skittles into colours - you will probably need a few big packets - and place in different bottles. Either use new bottles or old vodka bottles that still have the lids. Then divide the vodka between the bottles. Shove in the fridge or freezer and drink a few days later!

Now must stop dreaming about alcohol and do some revision. Hurry up 14th June, I have coke cans to put in my hair. Wonder who I'm dressing up as!

That is the ugliest f-ing skirt I've ever seen

Oh routine, how I want you. I'm surviving on 5 hours sleep a night and naps. The mixture of two jobs and exams is not a pretty one.

As previously discussed I spend my life in black work tshirts, in my retail job this is fine over dresses and pretty skirts. However behind a bar jeans or black skirts are best. I usually wear black body-con jobs with leggings. I am on the search for a short black skirt with pockets, but I am far too fussy to find anything I like. My part time bar job has turned into a more permanent one after I have finished my exams, gaining club management experience and all that goes with it so will be forever looking for a practical black skirt.

I do find myself searching daily on Topshop, Miss Selfridge and ASOS for this illusive skirt but instead find many others I want.

The ASOS one looks horrible and cheap as most of there clothes do but is exactly what I am looking for. Although the Miss Selfridge one ticks all the boxes too. The rest are skirts I keep imagining outfits for. The Floral number from Topshop I can see with a nice big tshirt and sandals for summer, but my exam diet of crap has made my hips expand. I did attempt a run the other day, managed near 2 miles but almost died. So horribly unfit.

I keep online window shopping, I actually have money in my account at the end of the week for once but I seem to be turning into an adult and thinking of flat deposits and furniture. What happened to the party girl? Exams do finish soon however and I know exactly what I will be buying first, a bottle of Lamb's Spiced Rum. I think I might have actually found a replacement for the much missed orginal Sailor Jerry's Rum.

PS Actually writing this at 5.40am, just got in from work and cannot sleep. So Mean Girls it is.
